Twinsun LBA 2 Cheating Speedrun

Inspired by moothead's no weapons run, I present you my cheat run. The rules: just beat LBA 2 as fast as you can, using every trick and cheat in the book. On my first try, I got 1:16:37. That is about 35 minutes faster than our previous live speedrun record (doing it the regular way) and even 5 minutes shorter than the carefully crafted segmented speedrun by Cannibal9K.

Watch it.

Interesting facts:
  • Taking the protection spell took me 5:30. I believe this doesn't pay off here as much as it does in a regular live speedrun because I'm skipping the refinery completely, and I solve most of Dark Monk's statue with cheated Meca-Penguins.
  • I crashland on Otringal at the 26-minute mark. That's 10 minutes later than in moothead's no-weapons-run. (5 minutes after subtracting my protection spell) So JSB'ing through the Esmer's base is probably more wise than getting the Ball of Sendell the regular way. However, as you will notice in my video, whenever I try to JSB, my dosbox gets all laggy, so I doubt JSBing all the way through the base would have looked good on my video.
  • When we arrive at the emperor's palace at the one-hour-mark, I've pretty much caught up with him, only 4 minutes behind.
Now can we get somebody to beat the game... under an hour?

Pretty cool challenge . Don't forget though, I had to go the long way back to Otringal after the Emperor's scene .

Don't know if getting the spell or the Ball of Sendell is a good idea as you get the third level of magic when you enter Rick's Cafe (maybe time yourself without recording so you can JSB) and you can cheat a bunch of clover boxes and hold F6 to stop yourself from getting knocked back although in the long run it may be faster.

Will give it a go soon!

I do need the Ball of Sendell for the Protection Spell though. And that's vital since I suck at pressing F6 to continously change into Athletic mode. Or can that dragon monster in the cave be beaten on Magic Level 1?

Ah yeah, think you do. Shows how often I get the spell .

Just hold F6 until they stop shooting .

Kobold used FULL (and maybe others) in the video, so it should be no problem.

I wouldn't consider that finishing the game, you don't actually complete the game you just load another one, I think you should be allowed to load and save the same game you just started

However my approach would be quite similar, I'd start the game, save it, use save game editor to get me to the finishing location at dark monk's statue, load the game, win

Does this work? You do need to defeat FunFrock before you can beat the game.

I trying to think if running and getting the Ring of Lightning would save time in the long run. I think it would personally, especially against Funfrock who is just a pain to kill .
