There was a similar LBADeComp problem some time ago. Solution:
Extract the files on a 3.5" disk. It should work then.

EDIT: here's that link:

You're a member of the LBA-DM dev team and THEN you'll get acces to the team files. But the team leader is sort of gone. And he has most of the files and accepts applicants. You can make models (using Milkshape3D) for HL though. And maps are also still needed. Just check what hasn't started already (if you want to help of course).

I'll try the floppy idea

I looked in the "progress", but more than 90% of the items are "on hold". I guess that "On hold" means that nobody works on it?

How comes that a project started quite some time ago has made so little progress?

What is your contribution on this project?

Where do you get the data about "what excactly" and how to make things?
Where you collect your textures from?
Where do you get a detailed overview what all has to be on the maps?

Hmm... , I seem to have still a lot of questions
Is there somewhere a doc with all these kind of FAQs?

Well, it started like 3 years ago and the team has changed a lot over the years. When I joined this forum (2 yrs ago) I wanted to help with LBA-DM, but it was pretty much dead. Then Nights000 came and took over, but it stopped and he disappeared some time ago.

Now HomelessTarget sort of took over, but he can't contact Nights000 if he is allowed to use the coding he already did.
--

I did 2D art (the team was only me and him) and CrOvAx was in charge of the Tribes2 conversion. But, like I said, the project went pretty much dead (again) and with two people developing doesn't go very fast. Especially Nights needed to do a lot of modeling, coding and mapping.

--

On hold means it hasn't been done yet.

---
Textures were made from screenshots (which was also my department) and were enhanced with a few layers.
---
Detailed overview: well... mostly it has to be like in the game. So, check the game

---

How to make things... We pretty much find out by trial and error, but there's probably some stuff @ www.planethalfife.com

==

Nope, there isn't some sort of FAQ (unfortunately)

Thanks for info

Frankly speaking, I can understand that not so many people support this forum. It's not made easy to find informations, no real progress is visible after 3 years and no clear view what to make/do. Not really an encouraging for a start....

I've started to make some basic models like table, sofa, lamp, hook etc... for a first room. In a few days I hope to have a first room. If anybody is interest in it, I'll post a screenshot

Here a picture
The room texture is not final yet, and I need to add a few paintings etc..., but it gives an idea what can be made in a few days.

well, i haven't managed to contact Nights000.
It's like he's dead....scary..

Well, im considering if we should develop LBA-DM to Half-Life 2.
It will be using Hammer, and it's allmost the same as mapping to the old HL.
And my guess is that the rest of the modding will be quite the same too.

Maybe we should make LBA-DM to HL1 first.
Then try to convert as much as we can from the mod to HL2.
But if HL2 is coming soon, i think that may be quite useless..

We would have made quite much progress if we already had 'made contact' with Nights000
I'll just have to keep trying..

Yup, I haven't seen him online lately, either.
HL2 will be even easier to mod, according to valve in PC Gamer.

You can find these engines in your local games shop. You need to buy the game Half-Life, though.

Half-Life 2 doesn't come until September 2003 (for public).

Hello again
has it really beed 3yr scince i revived this project damn time flies.
sorry
im glad to see that people are taking an interest.
this post is not to say that i will be back to work.
but it is to say that i agree that HomelessTarget should be the project leader. i will search through my archives to find all the files concerning LBA-DM. ill contact you by email tommorrow on what ive got and how i will send it to you.

Just to say that there is no detailed information online because there was never much interest in the project and i never had the time to sit down and do anything too detailed for the website.

Bye for a while

I'd like to see a screenshot of the maps you have, or even better, a copy of the map-file

Why don't you use a free engine?
It enables much more people to participate

1) Because Half-Life is relatively easy to mod
2) Because the HL-engine is very stable
3) Because the HL-engine is very good (graphic wise)
4) Because Half-Life is a great game/sold a lot world-wide/is very cheap now/a lot of people have it.

See your point, but there are also some less good points:
- HL models are quite complex to make
- HL is not free
- Other engines can realize similar results

But up to you to choose what you like
Can you help me to get an attachment, vissible on this forum
How do I do this?
Just adding the file seems not to work

As i've already said, we're probally gonna make the mod for Half-Life 2.
Which is awesome and supposed to be easier to mod to.
But yes, it's quite complex to make models, like chars and weapons.
But i'm sure we will find somebody on the MBN that find it less complex

btw. send your attachment to my e-mail, [email address] or [email address].
And i'll post it
