I find the *honor* code of samurais kinda extremly dumb, as well as their current way to work like mads. But I like a lot mangas and japananese way of life (tooo sweet clothes, houses, hot bathes....). I know a little bit on the meiji era and the bakafu thanks to Kenshin

I'm currently reading Shogun by James Clavell, but I'm not far enough yet to give a good opinion about it. Anyone read it?

I know some stuff. Like all the kind of old fairytales. And a bit of the culture. I wish it was more.

But the actual bushido not very interesting actually, it's just an affirmation of the feudal duties, rights and loyalty that rule the samurai.

Recently picked up two books about china. One was by paul theroux, about the country itself, the people etc. The other about Mao tsetungs wife, interesting.
The japanese culture does interest me, as well as the thai culture. Going to thailand again, but I don't know shit actually, just a few words. Might live in the east one day though. Sounds like the ultimate thing, live there a few years. Live here a few years ![]()

Well I'm not really interested in that but I have studied Greek-Roman mythology for the past few years.

I'm very interested in the japanese culture. Not just in the culture, but their general morals and eithics. The open mindness and toleration for things that the Japanese people display is mainly what grabs my attention.

Well in the little I know from the old japanese life codes and stuffs, I dont see things that are worth admiration.
But I like the way you can meet in the street both peeople in jean and tshir, and others in the beautiful ancient-style clothes ![]()
