TBH, a LOT of people on this forum use IE.. So it wouldn't be the best decision.

That didn't make me sound gay.. Anyways.

what colors do not match? they should match close enough (maybe off by one).
I used JPEG so an exact match isn't possible.
JPEG has the best size/quality ratio. A 24bit png would be 3 times as large.

The new logo looks great imo (using Opera).
My only crit is the join/line in the shadows.

Looks great except for the colour not exactly matching the background. You could screw the IE users and have it as a PNG with alpha (what I did for my site...)
I never quite worked it out, but PNG works fine in IE for me.
(cept semi-transparencys...they come out pink)

I think quicktime might give IE better PNG support or something.

Go to my site and then look at it in IE – you should see a considerable difference.

And yeah, jpeg is smaller of course for detailed images. But this is what it looks like for me – the colour on either side is clearly different.

uhm... the background should be #E1E1E2 not #E8E3E7 as your screenshot claims

it shows correctly in my MSIE

Weird... the CSS file says #E1E1E2 but it definitely comes out as #E7E3E7 for me. Firefox Linux bug?

Edit: it looks the same in Epiphany which is also Gecko, but it's as it should be in Opera.

As I said before, the shadows are us .
I think we should have something about us in the image, who see a community like ours?

I liked the logo and it fits all the styles. And yes, I do think we should done something at the logo to merge it with the site. Maybe something like I did in the example.

Now another thing I saw is that the image have too low quality and looks really weird.

Tsk, how I missed this thread?.. Anyway: in my most sincere opinion, all the other previously used logos were better than this one that is now.

I specially liked the one that shows all LBA characthers in the white background... and the one with Twinsen in the spacesuit. They kind of structered the site better. Showing the magicballs are not a bad idea, and was well made, but I think it needs something else. It's too flat and too empty, the whole thing. And the font that was used is not a good one either, should be more dynamic/fun/lbaish/charismastic rather than a dull/serious/serif one. But well I didn't gave my opinion in the thread till now so no point in complaining now, I know...

In other worlds, they put a message inside an asteroid to protect it while it travels through space to reach some other planet. In this case it is a gift, a guitar, rather than just a message.

TBH, a small collection of brightly coloured balls is hardly an adult logo..

Uhm, I'm not too sure about the new logo; it's slightly too BIG, the ball shadows are too strong, the compression artifacts are very noticeable (also kind of looks a bit blurred). I think PNG is the way to go - just need to be careful what colour profile you choose when you save it in order to get colours to match properly. You can get very good quality and compression with PNG if you know what you're doing. I also agree with SpaceGuitarKid in that it looks a bit plain at the moment - maybe incorporating one of the characters would help (Twinsen?).

I like the simpler look though I do agree about the quality issues... Of course someone now needs to take that logo and make a mini logo which can adorn the status bar of my window

I now replaced it with the png counterparts (who are 4 times larger)

(png 46.6kb | jpg 11.9kb)

the new logo is only 20px (about 1.25 line of text) larger

ps, you might notice the png version uses transperency. It's index transperency with a single transparent color and a background color for a 24bit PNG. This is the only way it works with MSIE (transperency doesn't work, it's just not visible that it doesn't work).

I agree, I think it lacks to a newcomer that this is a lba site, one might assume its about magic balls and not about a computer game if not for the temporary make lba3 happen logo. I liked the twinsen in space suit like spaceguitar kid did as well.

Don't get me wrong, the magic balls in the logo look excellent.

Magic Ball!

Anyone that's ever played LBA can associate the Magic Ball with the game. Although I do understand your point. Maybe you should try and find a Twinsen that fits in.. ?

I could try to add that one in the logo when I get more time.
I also could try to fit better a Twinsen in it.
