Hiya mate,

Haven't been on here for a good few years, but I just wanted to say thanks for allowing me to play this classic game again. (I needed a distraction from writing my degree dissertation.) Needless to say, LBA2 works great, all I have to do in run it in Windows ME compatibility.

You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

You chaps remember me? Wow, I'm flattered.

To be honest, I got a little tired of getting into flame wars with certain members every five minutes, and thought it best to say goodbye to the forums. (Shame, really - I've always been an LBA fan, and this is a fantastic place.) On reflection, I should have realized the futily of such exercises, and left the hot topics well alone. Growing older and wiser makes retrospect all the more easy, eh?

Anyway, you guys take it easy, I may well say hi properly when I get a minute.

Hello to all that remember me.

I now have a new system as of Nov 06 with XP MCE on it and getting some garbled display on LBA2 so will have to try this fix.

P.S my eldest son is now almost 7 1/2 which means that many of the long time members will now be in late teens from when I first met you all those years ago before my son was born.

Glad to see the forum is still going strong.

The fix worked perfectly for me, I just followed the instruction by unzipping the file contents into the LBA directory folder, running the patch, creating a shortcut to LBA.exe on the desktop, and switching program compatibility to Windows ME. (The blurring was gone, but the colours were off until I did this last part.)

Ok that seemed to work.

Is there anyway to play in a window ?

My screen is 19" and 1280 x 1024 so the picture is sort of jagged because it's on more than a 15" screen.

Also when should the CD music play ?

All the time or only certain scenes ?

Your style actually influenced me on other forums, though mostly it was comical...I'd use song lines or other quotes for a bit of hilarity

And who can forget your location...The Corner Penthouse of Spook Central! Classic!

Now, all we need is {}ghost{} to come back, and it will be a reunion.

Of course, that was when I was still in my Ghostbusters phase...

Anyway, with any luck I should be around here for a while, I've already made a few posts in Off Topic. Guess I'll see you there.

Please, Help Me!

I'm a very big fan of LBA. I played much time for this game, when I was younger.

I want to play one more time. I don't have system problems with LBA. But I don't know, how to install second sequel "Twinsen's oddysey". I have Windows XP Proffesional and me and my father don't know, how to do it. I extract Patch, which you suggest. But the problem is again. i don't know, what to do.

Please help me, friends of Twinsen!

I don't understand what problem you're having- with installing the game or the patch?

The game's installation is really easy, just insert the CD in the drive, click Install, and follow all instructions. After you do that, extract the patch into the folder where you installed the game, and run the file from there. If for some reason it won't work, download this file, and replace it with the file inside the LBA 2 folder.

Good luck!

Hi nix!

An old thread about LBA2 Windowed mode, I recall it not working for me, however, it worked for some .

http://forum.magicball.net/showthrea...owed+mode+lba2

I think the CD music should play quite often, almost all the time. Not sure however.

Lba2

Found LBA2 in the drawer this weekend. Hadn't played it for years so I installed it with XP...NO WAY.

Thanks to Crazy Frogs thread I installed the patch and off we go.

Thanks for the patch.

Hi, I know this is an ancient thread, but I can't seem to find the solution anywhere else, so here goes:
The patch solves the graphic problems perfectly, and the opening movie plays fine, BUT the game freezes everytime I select something in the menu, or if I just play for a little bit. I haven't seen any threads that describe a similar problem, so I'm a bit at a loss. If anyone can help, I'd be really grateful

How can you not be able to select anything in the menu but be able to start the game?

because the opening movie plays through and then the game starts. But if I then try to access the menu it freezes. Or if I restart it and press resume or new game - it freezes

Oh right.

Have you tried something as simple as reinstall?

Otherwise I don't think there's any simple fix. You can either try to switch computer/system. Or you can try DosBox which most likely will work, but with some flaws.

No flaws, DOSBox works perfectly. Download the current SVN build from here.

Yeah, I've tried reinstalling and compatibility mode, which just gave off the same result.
I tried the whole dosbox thing as well, and it acted the exactly same way as with funnyfrogs patch, with that aggravating freeze!

I also tried reducing hardware and sound accelaration, but all to no avail. That's like an hour of my nerdy life I'm never getting back, SO annoying, when all I want to do is wallow in LBA nostalgia.

When you play with DOSBox you must play without FunnyFrog's patch applied.

Hmmm I don't think it was applied when I tried it, but I'll definately give it a go by reinstalling and then run it in dosbox. Thanks!
