Rayman and Twinsen have this thing in common...

Watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25hB9_ouDP8?t=139
Listen to the voices starting at 02:19, for example...
It's Twinsen and Dino-Fly, right?
Same voice actor for Twinsen, as for Rayman, in case you didn't know His name is David Gasman.
Might also be for Dino-Fly and Globox, not sure, but possible.

Just thought about posting this here, in case (many) people don't know

Nice observation, I didn't know! Seems like he also matches the speaking style a bit to Rayman's "character" to also feel a bit more "jumpy".

Ah, that's interesting!

I guess they're both French games lol. The French make a lot of good things.

What do people make of LBA's voice acting in general? It's actually not so bad, on either game, even if the script can be a bit iffy. Or maybe it seems that way because in relative terms I've been trying to enjoy the new Zelda, and it has some of the worst voice acting I've ever heard (thank goodness it lets you switch to Japanese, which may also be terrible but I can't tell as much I don't speak it.)

- CS2x: To me, the Japanese voice acting of LBA 1 is the best, even with Zoé sounding like an anime schoolgirl. It shows that they have the best voice acting industry alongside Italy (too bad there never were official Italian voices for either games, though I'm led to believe that unofficial speech packs existed).

Ah - these are all interesting things to discover! Thanks. In truth I've never heard the Japanese version of LBA1.

Occasionally in anime the English dub is passable, or even seems brilliant as opposed to awful. Tekkonkinkreet has an absolutely fantastic English dub, and most Miyazaki films do too (I guess Disney made sure of that and have the resources.) Being big and mainstream is no guarantee though, is it? For example I can't watch Akira or Ghost in the Shell in anything except Japanese with subs.

@Battler: Would you say that there's any skill that's more pronounced in Europeans than in Japanese?

Yes, I'd say the English voice acting was pretty good. I find LBA2 Twinsen's voice a lot better than LBA1 Twinsen's, though maybe that's influenced by the stupid dialogs in LBA1

- boodhound: Yes, Europeans are much better at learning languages other than their native one.

That's interesting... Are they good at learning languages far away from where they live (Thailand, Namibia...)

Given that I know a German who moved to Thailand and learned Thai, I'd say yes.

Hmm... I want to look for those speech packs now... But given that you apparently didn't find them, I probably have zero chances of success

- Polaris: They're just two out of the many, many things that were common and easy to find in the 90's that were already lost by the mid 2000's (when I began my search for them). Because of all the crackdown on pirates in the late 90's, a lot of stuff was lost and it took years to find it again on old warez CD's, tape backups of old warez BBS's, etc., and a lot is still lost. Even a lot of legitimate stuff is lost, as a lot of the CD's and floppies have already decayed to unreadability, some are being hoarded by collectors who follow copyright law to the letter, etc.
