Tribute to Science Fiction

Was messing about editing some stuff and got a bit carried away

So I made this, my own personal tribute video to science fiction, or tv/films anyway:

http://stage6.divx.com/members/83922/videos/1056150

No specific spoilers, but plenty of clips from recent shows. So be warned.
Slight bias towards farscape.

Can anyone name all the clips?

Thumbs Up

Quite nice, I think it would really add some usefull complementing contrast if you mix some old science fiction movies in to it.

For example blending Barbarella in to it might be a good way to go.

It would be better to mix bits of Metropolis with bits of the Fifth Element, Barbarella was kinda... um... can't find the right word to descrive what she was....

Yes, dune I regret not adding as it was fairly important.
Barbarella I wouldnt mind adding actualy, but only as a little easter egg.

Yeah, Dune was awesome - but the one with Sting, the TV made ones where kind of strange, you could see it was done in a studio - and it looked kind of poor.

You dont have Divx ?
Is a very common codec indeed. (kinda like mpeg4+mp3 sound)
A lot of dvd players are supporting it now as well.

oh well, its small free and should download automaticaly.
Its very good quality for streaming. (at least compared to YouTube, GoogleVideo, DailyMotion ect)

Hehe Same "problem" here, I don't want to download that official one, I have a neat codec pack, wich features the lates divX (Kinda disturbing, I have divX, but it wan'ts me to download something from the divX site) - yeah, .avi would be better . I'll try to "force" it open with VLC.

Avi is not a codec, its just a container.

Divx is a EXTREMELY good codec, which the clever creators have now got to work as a streaming media solution. (which I am still confused exactly how they got it to work....theres no transcodeing going on here like other sites, what you upload is the exact file shown on the site. To put a divx file on a website you just copy the file to your ftp, and write a quick html embed code for it, nothing else needed)

Whats the phobia about here?

Its no wonder we are stuck with crappy you-tube or flash movie quality video websites when people arnt willing to install proper compression systems

Seriously, why not download it
Its tiny, works well, and the company is just as trustworth as say....the mp3, jpeg, or gif lisences we have already on our systems.

Yeah, no biggy though
It's just, my Firefox Video Downloader extension won't work in that site

ffdshow is a really great codec, it plays almost all other codec, including all variations of DivX.

but it has its own downloader link
Its not like other sites that try to stop you downloading and you have to run scripts and plugins or search html to get the links, the divx people are happy to spread divx videos as much as possible (their main revenue seems to be from saleing lisenced divx playing dvd players and such)

btw:
The divx web player standalone installer, 1.5MB:
http://www.divx.com/divx/webplayer/

Supports all browsers, naturaly.

Nice vid, DF. Lots of Matrix references I noticed, no good clips though! Might have been a nice add.

Regardless, I enjoyed it.

If you insist.

The divx player is so much easier though, just plays in your browser and has a massive "download this" button
Seriously, Stage6 ownz YouTube quite a few times over.

Didn't you tell me DF that the official DivX codec is riddled with spyware back during the RMP days?

Just now I watched it, very awesome video!
Ahh, The 4400, Lost, Dead Zone... magnificent. Very well made!

(I'm trying very hard not to say that MirorMask isn't a sci-fi ) (damn, just did!) (uhm.. nevermind)

What were all the other stuff in there? That's all I recognized. Oh, and there was Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy.
