A question about Zelda Oracle of Time

It's pretty off-topic, I know, but here is some strange thing that I've noticed in oracle of time.

There is a goron (orange creature which lives in the mountains) in the present who gives you a vase to thank you. He says that it's a very valuable vase, and that it has been in his family for centuries.
Then, you go to the past, meet his ancestor. He says that he wants to leave something behind him for his family, so you offer him the vase. He is very happy and thanks you.

I think you understood that the vase you gave him will be in his family for years, and will be given to you as a reward many years later.

My questions is : Who made the vase ?

Do you actually need it in the game ever or is it just for this strange delivery task?
The Oracle games weren't very memorable so I don't really recall this particular bit anyway.

The way I understood it when I played the games forever ago was that it was actually made by the Goron in the future, but since you're going back in time to give it to the other Goron, it is the future Goron who makes it.

Time paradox! [/MGS3]

It's one of those delivery task, you trade the vase, you get goronade, you trade to someone else etc... at the end, you get a better sword, and I don't think that the goron in the present says that he made it...
