I know there are multiple threads about avatars on the site, but this one is a little different...

I'll be the first one to admit I'm not as good as other people on this site with computers (automobiles and guitars are a different story). I'm good, but not super-good. I would like to know, in a simple explanation, how to make my own custom avatar. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks-

Choose a picture you want, open it in a paint program, edit it if you like, resize it, and voilá:

Your avatar (but you can't have one, yet).

1. make a screenshot
2. insert the part you like of this screenshot into a frame (take the frame from an existing avatar)

You can use Paint shop Pro for this task.

You could also upload your avatar to somewhere on the net and link your custom avatar to it


Note: Chaosfish's link is broken because of a typo apprently, true link is this

HELP!!!!

I re-sized my picture and its 50x50, but now the MBN says it can take it because its over 20kb! How can I solve this problem...

save it as .gif because bmp is not a format you should use on the net (even though MSIE supports it)
