Religious Threads

I think this religious stuff in a public games forum has gone on for too long. Its making members angry and frustrated.

I hope someone who can moderate the forum will look at this.

Personally, I think the board's policy should be the same as that which some bars in America have; "No religion. No politics."

That way, no-one can be offended.

A liberal attitude towards freedom of speech is all good until it gets out of hand.

Morden

I'm thinking of a new forum rule to close threads that get out of control and head up to an unhappy place.

The MBN is a happy place, keep it that way.

I'm stricktly against tossing *all* discussions away of a certain subject, especially if only one or two people can't behave.

I however agree with El's proposal: Threads/Discussions that end up in fighting will be closed and not brought up again.

I think we need to moderate these discussions more. Even after the previous argument we said 'control yourself' and it would be fine. This time the forum got into a right mess. We don't need to ban them totally, since some are really interesting.

I voted to ban them outright, but i do agree that it can be interesting to chat lightheartedly about differences in religions and customs etc, but you have to remeber that lba is a CHILDRENS game and that lba reigns supreme on mbn. "No religion, no politics" does seem like a good idea, but as a last resort. El should give us one more chance and if we mess up again then...

I don´t think it would be a good idea to make rules against discussions whether they are religious or political.
People who visit this forum comes from all around the world , from different societies and systems.
We all have different religions , or ways to deal with religion.
I find it very important , that you can discuss these matters in a nice and polite way , because it is one of the most important ways to make people from different countries getting to understand eachother and maybe care about eachother.
But , there is always a but , it is also very important that these discussions are held in a nice and friendly way , so it doesn´t end up in f.ck you , NOOOO f.ck You , etc.
Discussions are good and needed , bad behaviour and bad language is not wanted.
A very merry christmas and a happy new year to all of you outthere , and to those of you who are not christian , all my best wishes to all of you , and may we all understand that we are human and share the same dreams and hopes for our future.
Yours sincerly:
"Uncle Fromsej".

I don't think they should be banned .. but than again this is a LBA forum so .. yeah. Sometimes religious debates can lead to positive views, but they should be monitored and people need to be more considerate with the opinions of others.

Cool Results

Well, peeps, it looked like the most people voted to ban them.... I think so too because this is a public game forum and we should not have these religious arguments here.

Ehum, since I still can count: 7 for ban, 4 + 5 = 9 for keeping, and even if there would be more, I wouldn't ban it, because those people might as well ignore those threads. No one's forcing them to read it -_-

A moderated forum= a good forum.

Sorry, but ignoring the problem is not the answer, and all forums need moderation. (Yes, I do understand your point El.)

i happen to be fond of religous discussoins myself, and i am a student of religions. i find that peoples views from other cultres, and ethinicities are widly differing, and i value the discussions i happen to have with such people. I think that talking with others is a good way to gather information and *gasp* think about what views and believs fit you the best.

I enjoy gathering oppinions and views from other peoples, and i would be sadly dissapointed if such disscusions were to be cut. i would also like to point out that this part of the forum is for "off-topic" subjects, and what is more off the topic of LBA than religous and philosophical ideas? Without disscusion and talking, we may end up with another Inquisition or Hollocost(sorry if I misspelled) because people don't understand and tolerate other views. without open discusions on such topics people will end up with only the information others want them to have, and will not be open to make thier own choices on belief and religion.

Sorry for the misspelling!

Maybe El meant that, a forum is good, when the users in it don't give the admin reason to moderate..

and maybe he didn't.

Anyway, forums should moderated.

Ehmg, apparently most of you don't know what El means with moderation. When you moderate a forum all posts will first be read by a moderator who then allows them to pass to publicity or not. So, he didn't mean the close or not moderation that Atresica does. At least I think so..

Talking _.-='=-._

Atresica> Yes, people can ignore them but people are getting angry and frustrated (axx and ET for example). People ignore them but people will still read them and we will lose members.
