And also, is there a way to stretch the window so that I get a bigger window? Or is there a way to have DosBox in full screen (on a widescreen monitor) and not have it stretch? Is there a unofficial patch that does that?

You can play with Dosbox config file. For aspect correction you should set aspect=true in [render] block (perhaps, you should also set up "scaler" option there for better antialiasing), and, in [sdl] block, make sure that "fullresolution" option is set to your max screen resolution (e.g. "fullresolution=1280x1024")

What's the point of constantly swearing when you constantly censor yourself, too? That's just plain useless.

Actually, this only applies to the US and Brazilian editions. The Asian edition by Virgin Interactive software, has the CD structured pretty much exactly the same as that of the European edition, with the exception that the LBA2 folder becomes TWINSEN, and LBA2.EXE becomes TWINSEN.EXE, as well as it has no French of German voices.

I have the following (mostly in .NRG CD images, but some on actual discs):
LBA 1:
- European CD;
- European Floppy 1995;
- American CD;
- American Floppy 1995 (from an old Warez CD from 1998);
- Japanese CD (thanks to Link (Magicball member);
- Russian CD (downloaded from OldGames.ru);
- European CD PSX (downloaded from SnesORama.us).

LBA 2:
- European;
- American (thanks to alexfont);
- Brazilian;
- Asian (thanks to elmuerte);
- Russian (good) (downloaded from OldGames.ru);
- Russian (Fargus) (downloaded from OldGames.ru);
- Russian (crap release) (thanks for Magicball Network and Bestar).

That's why I know all this stuff.

Sorry if I'm posting this here but I can't seem to be able to create a new topic in this room. I'm playing Relentless right now and I'm stuck on the first island. An elephant asked me to help him set up some crates and I'm like totally stuck on that. Does anyone have a guide to help me?

No; I think she should start a thread about it. That's the way this forum usually goes, at least in the past 10 years or so.

- morshem: Last time I checked, newly registered people were unable to make new threads in this section, for example, and Tabata pretty much confirmed the same above.

Why wouldn't new members be able to start new threads? Let alone in the sub-forum they are most likely to do so? This doesn't make much sense.

And by the way, how did you "check" that? With another one of your "clones"?

- morshem: I checked that months ago, and with a friend's sock-puppet, yes. I think it was A7Alae, then one used to mock Axx. And I was pretty much unable to start new threads anywhere except for Member Announcements until I had at least 1 or so posts outside the Off-topic section.

Heya,
I'm seeing other people complaining of the same thing but haven't really stumbled across any answers yet (I dunno, I might be blind) but I wanted to bring it up again...

I have the 'Relent' version of LBA1 with the original CD, I'm running it on Dosbox because I'm running Win7 64bit and the colours screw up on lbawin.

I've been successful in getting Lba to install and run, it runs perfectly, It seems to be smooth, I have sound, the problem I am having, is that the music is sub-par. Meaning, I am getting music, but it's crappy midi and doesn't have the full impact that it should.

I think the problem is that when I go into setup to set the music & sound options, I don't think it's actually saving them properly despite me selecting 'save parameters', because I'll go and set it all to SBPro1 etc, but then run the game and then it sounds a little better but still not what it should, than I'll go into setup again and it'll be set back to 'no music'. I'm fine with the sfx, no problem there but I really want the gorgeous music back when I play.

I hope all that made sense, and if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears! Thanks

ok, upon closer inspection after playing the game for a while, some of the music sounds like it should while some is still the midi crap and it shouldn't be like that, so no idea what's going on there...

I've gotta ask, do you have the CD music while playing in dosbox?

If I try the game from LBAWin I don't get midi (running in wine on linux), and if I try it in dosbox I do get midi music, but no CD music...

Did you mount the LBA image from DOSBox using the imgmount command? If you do that I think DOSBox should emulate the CD music.

It's not an image but the cd.

I think I found my problem however - and i can't find a solution to it.
I downloaded a dos CD music player to see if the cd worked - and it didn't.
Ubuntu is mounting the mixed-mode cd as two different drives - one with data and one with music, and if I point dosbox to mount /media/ADELINE as D I can play the game fine but there's no music (since I'm not mounting the music....)

I tried mounting the cd in dosbox by pointing it to /dev/cdrom or /dev/sr0 but that doesn't work - and the game won't go past the first two loading screens.

Make an image out of the CD (make it Bin/Cue, not ISO as ISO format doesn't save cd tracks), then instead of "mount", "imgmount" with DOSBox:
imgmount D /tmp/LBA.cue -t iso
I think it should work.

Is there a new DOSBox installation guide for the 0.74 version? because it isn't really working for me the same way the installation guide says it should. I'm new to this stuff but I appreciate the help all the same. I just want to play this awesome game again.
