dosbox or just... dos

i have the cd version of lba1 now, and i hope it has all the files that its supposed to.

well....

the problem is that when i started it the first time it came up with this problem.
|
v

( sorry for the incenvinous-[soz about incorrect spelling] but this program/file needs to run in pure dos, which windows ME does not support, please ask your publisher-[up grader guy or whatever] for the latest version of ms-dos.

and the second time when i started it (after i went to setup and all that stuff) i choose the same settings i had for the lba1 floppy version and it worked for about 2 secs and it said all these files that it was starting...
(initializing)

and it seemed to stop completely at the WAVE DRIVER.

and i thought but it never said anything about that in the setup.

i searched everywhere around my computer to fix the problem.

(so i got dosbox but didnt work).

it took me like 6 times to restart my computer (because kept crashing at the wave driver and the only thing i could do is restart).

and i still havnt solved it

so i thought you guys might help me.

[extra info: i used the patch that scans the computer for the appropriate devices eg: roland MDT3 (midi device) and such.]

need help and i know your the only guys that can and care.

There is a fix for Windows Me that enables DOS real mode. Please read this. By the way, why don't you just use LbaWin, if you already have the CDROM version?
And if you want to use DosBox, make sure you did everything exactly like in this guide.

If you have a newer CPU (once with virtualization extension) you can also try to run LBA in a virtualized DOS session. In that case DOS isn't emulated like with dosbox, so the performance is much better.

I have a virtualized DOS. it really lags for me though. Also I can't figure out how to get a DVD drive to work on it. I don't think MSCDEX supported those things.
