Noone else chose "The Empire"???

I always felt that this one is the best soundtrack among all to show the subliminal oppressive feeling throughout the whole LBA2-Game while still keeping the continous movement and tension.
I'd love to hear that piece from a real Symphonic Orchestra!

I always thought the opressed feeling failed in lba2 compared to lba1.

Talking about the story I agree that LBA1 is far more depressing, mostly because Twinsen's "friends" and allies are far less present than in LBA2.
But that's especially why I think the music is so important. The dark and menacing sounds are always reminding you about the gravity of the situation in the (sometimes too) colorful world.

LBA's music is just so evocative, I love it.
"Purple" may be a short song but I think it nails down the feel of Zeelich, a dying planet whose inhabitants are so miserable that they'd blindly follow any so-called prophet who promises them a better future. Ironically the actual song "Zeelich" fits Funfrock better because it evokes a diabolical, twisted feel with a hint of grandiosity, like a demented villain is explaining his master plan.

Anyway my favorite song is "Honey Bee", but really it's tough to put one above the others... "The Empire" gives me the chills and "Song for Gabriel" simply fills me with nostalgia, such a wonderful song to both open and close the story.

In LBA1 though my favorite is "In the temple", hands down. Perfect song for a dictatorship, that daunting feeling when you escape the prison for the first time only to discover the whole planet is your prison, clones and soldiers are everywhere, citizens are scared and quick to turn their back on you, there's no one you can blindly trust. And this music plays. Simply awesome...

Song for Gabriel is the one I like the most, but the poll should have multiple choices.

I forgot Zeelich! Amazing tune indeed.

There is a remarkable difference between lba1 and 2 music that cannot be described as better or worse. I always felt lba 2 music seems to come easier to him, as if he had grown as a composer. Lba2 is a grand adventure while lba1 is like a ..... More intense tragedy?

Man I want to play the games again!

Aside from purple that is probably the most bland tune on there.

Most of the rest is pretty top notch. How about the quest? One of the other top tunes.

Eh, I like them all, so that wouldn't help. I prefer a one-option poll, it means you have to make a real choice.

I didn't much enjoy LBA music as it was very repetitive in-game. I tend to prefer ambient loops rather than finite pieces which begin or stop each time you change a screen. For this reason I don't feel the urge to replay LBA music outside of gaming. And the worst track of all was the LBA Main Theme as it was too depressive.

The only track I enjoyed listening to was "Desert" and unfortunately it was the least repeated track of all. I believe it is actually based on Greek Rembetic music but mixed so as to evoke some New Age genre. I really love it.

Now I don't remember much of the LBA2 music, although I think my favorite track was one related to the Mosquibees, and pretty similar to the "Desert" one. The main theme (remix) was much better and less depressive than the first one.

How was the main theme depressing!?
The remix for me made it a bit too much day to day. They took the depth out of it.

I can't explain or prove it, but it worked that way for me.

Perhaps depressing is not a correct word, perhaps melancholic is more suitable. It was all played in a "sad" musical scale. Despite its rich instrumentation and potentially playful tune, sadness prevails.

Yes that is probably true somehow.
But i never actually noticed, did they change the scale for the remix?

Is there some story behind this title? Are you sure it is named after the angel and not some person?
