Family Values? FAMILY VALUES?!?!!?! Wtf does that mean? And what country? You mean Japan?

Back in the early 90's lots of kids would have never even been exposed to the concepts of genetics and other science stuff if it wasn't for the thought-provoking nonsense spoken of in TMNJ. I'm not saying it was brilliant or very smart. It wasn't. But it was still better than the crap kids watch today.

Btw "Generation Y" is not something I made up.

You can interpret anything anyway. They are both entertainment.
Saying TMNT is evil because it is science fiction (that is, the fictional elements are explained by scientific ideas) is as daft as saying Pokemon is evil because it teaches little children to fight with pet animals kept in tiny ball's.

Both shows have been accused of very irrational things over the years, but both have tried to some extent ""install values"" and what-not. (or at least, occasional market themselves as doing such for parents....)

TMNT, incidental, had much stronger political, religious and ideological statements in comic form. (at least in the little I read). It was deeper and tried to be a bit more thought provoking then the tv show.

---
Also, Ive never understood what "family values" are either. Who's family?
Not that I have any objection to good moral ideas in tv shows and films when its done right. (By which I mean demonstrating superior behaviour or ideas, rather then merely being preachy about it).

You know what made Star-Trek Enterprise more watchable? Pretending it was the same character that just leaped into a Star-fleet captains body.
I also choose to believe the same thing when the actor turned up as Chuck's dad.
(My tv universe in my head is sooooo much more entertaining....)

ps. There was another quantom leap O_o

I don't get wat's the uproar about Enterprise, I really liked it. Nerds will keep hatin'... everything that's even slightly "non canon" - the person who coined that phrase should be shot.

The pilot was good, as was the 4th season. (cept for the ending)
The rest was an utter mess. Its nothing about canonness for me (which as far as I can tell it sticks to ok anyway). The problem was the ongoing story went nowhere and they introduced technology far too fast.

The whole "point" of the show was a brilliant idea; Show the transitional position between our world and that of star-trek. Show how we reach that tech.
But in reality it became pretty much the same as all the other Trek's within a few episodes. It completely wasted its premise. Transports, Phasers and other what-nots shouldn't have been in the show imho. They wasted their opportunity.

In short;
Grappling Hocks = Hell Cool!
Tracker Beams = blah.

Scott Bakula was the best captain though, I'll give it that. (He acted human. The rest were far too stiff, imho)

I guess you're right Darkflame, it moved too fast. I do however like the series.

Anyway I'm watching this little weirdness called Andromeda, acting's cheezy at first, but the series has some good and intelligent dialogues and the writings seems good (after some time anyway). It seems like a mix between Sequest, Farscape and a tad of Dune (just a bit though).

Yeah, I have to sit and watch that some-more sometime as I heard it has some nice ideas.
I can't help but think of it as "Hercules In Space" though.

Why Hercules of all things?

Futurama is cool, I like shows that take real everyday issues and stuff and still don't use the boring old everyday mundane scenes, I think all shows should do that. (not saying that all of Futurama is satire or about real issues) Also it's nice that it doesn't take itself seriously.

I believe it depends on the actors themselves, some actors and characters stick together, it happens for two reasons, either the character is an epic one that you can't forget,(happens alot)
or that actor is bad, and plays the same everywhere.(more rare)

It's called "typecast", and it's vile.

I didn't mean typecast..typecast is a weaker characther-actor relation.

Yes, like if actor plays the same part for 10 years and becomes famous for it, even if he gets a completely different part (and plays it well), its still sometimes hard to forget the other character they played.

As for typecasting, it is horrible. I guess its only ok in some parody scenarios, or possibly in rare situations when the actor has a specific skill or set of attributes they want.
(ie, martial arts stuff. Or, I mean, you don't hire Jackie Chan to play some guy in a wheelchair).
