My french is a bit rusty. Je ne parle pas français after all. But I didn't mean to say "hello" in french.

While you say Bonjour, it's funny in that it means both "hi" and "bye" lol. In other languages it's in fact used to say "bye" in style
All of this makes me think, c'est très gut pour my fremde languages...

Bonjour is more like Good day or Good morning. "Salut" is for "hi" and "au revoir" is for bye.
Also in italian, we say "ciao" for both hi and bye. And you boors always use it to say "bye" and appear cool
I bet some of you even uses the spanish "Hola!" to say "bye"!

I'm being sarcastic, no offence meant

In Hebrew there's a similar equivalent, "shalom", which means both "hello" and "goodbye" (and also "peace").

I know "salut" is also used for "bye" (or synonym), not only "hi". But this could be Belgian specific.

Hola!

I don't know what Boors are, but I don't say Hola myself. I'm offended in that you think that I think you try to offend me with a something that I don't even know

Ah. I've only used the "polite" form of what's up: Comment allez-vous? (How's it going?)

You can also use Ciao in French. I have been accused of language mixing when doing so, but they do actually use it! And Salut is definitely both hi and bye, informally, where bonjour and au revoir are more formal.

I agree.
Another way of spelling au revoir is "oyevar", which sounds almost the same.

... yet another thread which goes offtopic to talk about languages. MBN is some kind of Babel, heh.

"Tag" is a noun. You must capitalize it.

Not true. You're refering to the translation of "day" (that should be capitalized), which is a homonym for "tag" meaning "hello".

All of this was, really

"Tag" is just an abbreviation of "Guten Tag" ("good day").
