Is LBA2 Linear, Safe to get a Savefile?

Havent Really played much, i think i have gotten up till Dessert island, but lost my savefile due to a formating the drive incident. I hate repetition, so instead of starting over is it safe to get another person savefile, in the sense he has done ore up till that point or is the game linear meaning, resuming from Desert Island theres no chance of a spoiler, or the other person having enabled more dialogs, items, sequences leading up to that point?

You could - is possible. But, I'm afraid I don't have any of those save files at the moment.
The game is so good anyways, I wouldn't mind playing it up again to get to Desert Island.

If you think that's bad enough, wait until you get to Zeelich and your file gets messed up - happened to me a long time ago.

It's not completely linear, there are a few small things that you can do / items you can collect in any order, but for the most part you need to go through the game in the right order. There are a selection of savegames you can download here.

IMHO it's better to repeat because it will take about 20 minutes, but you will know what you did before get to Desert island.
And the only thing you need is to stop the storm, it means to get Tralu down. You also would like to get a tunic (quick rush into museum) and get the umbrella back, but that's all.

Actually with the storm&ferry bag there is no need to stop the storm to get to ferry, just buy a ticket and get yourself on a ferry. But you still need to stop the storm to go to Zeelich.
