(split from:LBA2 car bug fixed)
with the same method you can "fix" a sound issue, for me the car sound is waay too loud, by copying the DSOUND.DLL file this isn't the case, however I get some startup errors when I do that. So that still needs some work. Last edited by elmuerte; 2005-08-25 at 11:46. |

Well the sound fix doesn't work well. The game kept craching after the 1st movie when you leave Twinsun for the first time. My guess it something isn't closed properly when a movie is shown en it becomes fatal when a 2nd movie is shown right after the 1st one.

Hmm.. I followed the hint in this thread https://forum.magicball.net/showthread.php?t=5194 and changed the mss32.dll, some don't work other do. The attached dll fixes this issue, but it creates a new issue, the music gets some clicks, less annoying than the loud sounds, but still not a proper solution.
http://www.magicball.net/beta/Mss32.zip Ok, this is the best mss32.dll I could find, it has the least clicks Last edited by elmuerte; 2005-08-25 at 12:27. |

It works!!
I never had a problem with loud car, but I always had a problem with an EXTREMELY loud desert hiss. Now it's fixed! Can we expect an LBA2 InnoSetup installer anytime? ![]()

Well, I always had annoying sound problems, especially in Desert Island... I might try this soon.

I also experienced loud desert sounds, and sometimes the background sounds in the baggage claim. I made some tests, and maybe this could work (for Win XP only): copy dsound.dll and set the lba2.exe to run in Win 95 compatibility mode (right button menu -> properties -> compatibility tab). The souds are good for me, and no crash when going to Zeelich for the first time occured. Although it can be my case only, because the game doesn't crash even if I don't enable compatibility mode. But at least the compatibility mode removes those startup errors.

I know this thread is old, but it's about a subject that remains nowadays and it's the thread that I found to be more similar to what I want to say.
I use XP (most posts about sound were about Vista) and the mss32.dll solution works, but the voices became strange (with clipping) many times. So the best solution for me was the one above, posted by Zink. Just changing to compatibility mode - Windows 95 already fixed the bug of the music stopping, but the loud sounds stayed. And it was solved by copying the DSOUND.DLL. Important to say that you may keep the original mss32.dll. About crashing in Zeelich, I didn't play there since then. I'll test later. ------------ EDIT: Just discovered that after ANY movie it crashes with this solution. ![]() Last edited by Hak_Foo; 2009-10-13 at 08:37. |

Hitting ESC when the movie has to start helps you skip the movie, so you get to DI
Though, this won't solve the crashing (my LBA2 always crashes on that movie when I haven't freed Ralph yet)
