i bought final fantasy 3 on friday, it is amazing, reminds me of playing golden sun. I also got spiderman 3 and it's amazing purely because it's spiderman however it's very buggy and i've fallen through the floor a couple of times.

FFIII is particularly fantastic - unfortunately it gets as hard as nails very quickly after about 12 hours play time Those bastard beasties have 26,000 HP, I have 1000 HP and do about 500 damage a hit....

On a good note - They are remaking FF IV in 3d for DS too!

I'm desperately waiting for any news on Project H.A.M.M.E.R., I really want to see this game. It sounds very cool.

My next planned Wii purchases? Big Brain Academy and Madden '08.

I got Cooking Mama the other day, it is insanely fun for a really simple idea. It's great to play 2 player and have a cook off.

Just got my latest Nintendo Power (I got three free issues for registering games at Nintendo.com), and I'm very excited about some of these sports games for the Wii, especially Madden '07 and FIFA. Both look to be really great and intuitive in using the motion controls, and even though I'm not a soccer fan, I may just pick up FIFA...

Pretty hilarious stuff here:

Gates Wants To Out Wii The Wii

by Bryan Ashcraft
Kotaku.com

Last week, when Microsoft's Bill Gates and Apple's Steve Jobs got together at conference All Things D, Gates further hinted at what direction Microsoft was going, game-wise. And that direction is? Gates explains:

"Software is doing vision and so, you know, imagine a game machine where you're just going to pick up the bat and swing it or the tennis racket and swing it."

Um, kinda like the Wii?

"No, that's not it. You can't pick up your tennis racket. And swing it."

Picking up my actual tennis racket and swinging it? We have a name for that Bill, and it's called "tennis."

That Bill Gates stuff is hilarious. I am fairly sure the camera thing was done by Eye Toy already. And I reckon that cameras would be less accurate cos they struggle to see 3d

You would need a high resolution to see a tennis racket! I mean its mostly full of holes!

Quick question... Do you think they will bring out the original snes mario kart on the virtual console for the wii??

I hope so! That was the best version of the game IMO!

Of course they will.
They have done all the zelda's now, they will be working their way though their other main games.

As for the camera your right.
But then, Sony's Eyetoy for the PS3 is actualy only 640x480 O_o

Really, if you want to emulate Wii actions without massively unreliable and complex motion extraction you need z-depth information. (either twin stero cameras or some reflective infer red).

Incidently, what a missed opertunity, they soooo should have done.

The irony of those adverts is, of course, that PC's are better for games (more of them) and Macs are better for work enviroments.(office app's, photoshop ect).

Well, I must confess that Harry Potter game looks like it might be quite good
Grand Theft Bromstick play mechcanics with wiimote base spellcasting.

Ok, its a film game, so it will probably suck, but theres always hope.

my sims looks too much like an animal crossing ripoff without the animals. of course i could be wrong and it could be a very original game.

Its the ability to build your stuff thats interested me. Collecting is all well and good - but ultimately there is a limit on how many things you can collect

EA's suddenly investing a lot more money into Wii development thought - although I'm afraid that for Harry's sake, it will come a tad too late.

Ah well, there's always halfblood prince. Man, I can't wait to play Snape in that novel!

How hot...?

How hot does everyone Wii get when the system is off and Wiiconnect24 is turned on with the standby connection? I'm really getting concerned about my Wii's temperature. I'd classify it as "very warm" to possibly even a bit "hot." Say like nearly hot water coming out of your tap/sink.

I was tempted to buy a third party cooling fan of some sort, but I've heard they either a.) don't work as advertised or b.) in the case of the cooling stand I wanted to get, the light can't shut off, so its glowing blue 24-7, which is annoying as hell.

For me, I've just turned off the standby connection. I don't see any reason to keep it on. And since I've read about damage to the GPU from the standby overheating, I think I'll just leave it off. What I hate is that many features (Forecast, News, etc.) require you to turn on the standby connection, which seems a bit asinine (i.e. if you turn on the Wii, and your internet, you click on the forecast channel. If you don't have the standby connection on, it will make you go to the Wii system settings and turn it on...needlessly. It should just update when you click to go to the channel).

I've emailed Nintendo asking about some sort of firmware update (possibly allowing the high velocity fan to run intermittently during standby mode to keep the console cool) or if they are coming up with a peripheral that would help keep the Wii cool. Hopefully I'll hear something soon.

Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone else had these sort of issues with the Wii and heat. My Wii is on its side in the Nintendo mounting stand, which I'm not sure has any effect. I figured on one hand, that's better, because it allows the very warm left side to be exposed to more air, but also the intake grate is on the bottom and is sort of left with a little cut in the stand to suck in air. I wonder if it wouldn't be better to put the Wii on its side. Oh well.

Does anyone else have a hot Wii? *snicker snicker*
