Sculptris - free Zbrush-like software.

This thing is awesome, lightweight and it works under wine .

Yes, its utterly fantastic.

My only problem is getting the models in/out of max. Sometimes the Obj format doesnt seem to work right

I use Blender so I don't have any problems with that.

The shortcuts mostly don't work under wine, and the polygon count spirals out of control too fast. Is there a limit somewgere? I can't find an option for that.

You have to keep using the reduce tool at the moment really.

Have you tried going from blender back to Spectris ? Thats where I had problems.
Its export seemed ok, its import not so much.

Unrelated...How....can you show textures more defined in Blender while in sculpt mode?

Related: looks nice.

I did the modeling, some color painting and bumpmap painting.
But they do have some hands full of default material/lightning modes, that makes stuff look fancy too.

I am adicted now.

great !!!

it's great !!! first time I could actually try it, cause some time ago I didn't have a powerful enought videocard anyway, this is my first try in under 30 mins and I know it's not awesome or anything but it's FAST !!!

EDIT: added a second picture, this time I've gotten more familiar with the tools around 45 mins - 1h for this 2nd one

Yeah it still is a great tool. Pixologie (Z-brush) did buy Sculptris last summer. And did put the creator on the paylist.
People fear that it won't be devolped to much more. But It already is a nice as it is... and still free.

Here is a 1 hour head doodle i did last summer, don't mind the poor quality lol:

hey that's great !!! I still didn't get some of the tools on how EXACTLY they work but I'll keep messing with them also I don't get what difference does it make if the Strength and Size checkboxes (small round ticks) are on or off
