Here is: If there's enough justice in this world to let us play one of the most innovatives games around(Spore) there's enough justice for sequels of already great games.
Snag with that logic, is that Maxis Man Will Wright has given EA a heck of a lot of money with The Sims franchise.
I wouldnt be supprised if they thought they owed it to him to support spore, else he would refuse to work on Sims3

Ancel has, historicaly, given Ubisoft a lot of money with Rayman.
But unlike Wright, its not the same scale and not as recent.
Sim's must contribute pretty largely to EA's non-sport related revenue, given all the add-ons.

Hehe, so in that case Raynal is doomed.

He never given too much money to anyone, and not exactly recently.

But that doesn't affect that Spore actually will work on my PC!

If they dont botcher it with DRM.

As for Raynal, he cant relay much on the LBA franchise. Any LBA game will have to earn its place to be developed as if it was a completely new game.
So I dont expect "LBA3" anyway, it would be a sequal with a subtle rather then a number.

A subtitle. Would be easier if darkflame's spelling wouldn't be "choas".
Like:
Little Big Adventure: The Genesis of the Stellar Entity.
Instead of simply:
Little Big Adventure 3

No no. I understand that part.

Subtle, subtitle etc.

BUt I think he's saying something like every LBA game is so unique that isn't really a sequel. It's more like a standalone game in the same universe.

If I'm right, so that means: You're praising Raynal, don't you Darkflame?

Well, I am praising him, but I also meant a new game would have to be standalone to be marketable anyway.

That looks horrible.
I love beyond good and evil so much, but attempting to make it realistic ?!
Talk about killing all the charm.

*prays to god this is just early concepts*

-edit-
I hate to be negative but this is even worse the more I think about it.
They are probably spending shitloads more to have graphics like that, thus meaning the game will have to sale even more to break even, thus decreaseing the chances for a third game without any benifit.
The crowd they will attract with realistic graphics will probably expect a complete different type of game, and wont pass on good word-of-mouth.

You obviously totally changed your opinion based on Darkflame's post.

If they pull this off without massive requirements (although, I do have a Geforce 9600GT ) I'd be pretty impressed, but not even Crysis runs well on full on a single graphics card.

Times are changing guys. Also, as I looked at the screenshots (I'm still waiting for it to dl...), they don't look that advanced, they would make hi-poly models anwyays, and the detail is just normal mapping. For me the awesomeness is the deign of that hover car, wich is still in core the same, the chinese umbrella, and the overall feel.

Besides, it's more about the spirit behind it, and the storytelling, then making it with same graphics. Face it, it wouldn't sell with same graphics.

No, that logics false.
Graphics like those will cost a lot more to developed, ergo they have to sale more to break even.

Artstyle is worth a hundred times any use of normal maps or advanced shaders.
Artstyle is part of the sprit of the game.
Frankly, I am fucking fed up with every developer under the son thinking they need things "realistic" and "gritty"

If they just took beyond good and evil 1's engine, refined the assets to be smoother, and rendered to a higher resolution, they could make a game in a fraction of the budget, and it would be far more likely to turn a profit.
As it stands, they are trying to appeal to a crowd that wont like the game anyway. Action-adventure gamers tend not to mind lack of detail, or actualy prefer stylistic games like Zelda or Okami.

Looking at screenshots of the old game, yes its lower tech, but artisticaly it looks much much nicer.

hahahah! Oh man. I was on the floor after I saw those screenshots. This is rediculous!

Quite a smack in the face isn't it? We waited, what, 4 years for a sequel only to discover that they've sold us out.

Well alright, maybe they haven't, but this change in visual style suggests that more than visuals have changed.

In short.
This guy has charecter, charm;

this guy does not;

Yes, the game could still be good.
But to me this is an early bad sign. Could end up with a "Warrior Within" style sequal. Allthough I'm sure ubisoft arnt that stupid. Given they admitted their mistakes and made Two Thrones, i dont see them doing it too another franchise...I hope.

Actualy, reminds me a bit of the realistic bowser someone did in photoshop;
http://essenmitsosse.de/realistically-painted-bowser/
Technical great, but compared to this;
http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/6759/pmbowserpg4.png
No charecter whatsoever.

Of course, the BG&E2 example isnt nearly that extreme, but its the same sort of difference.

I loved the original game because of the atmosphere. Now this seems to be a bit too realistic but it's hard to judge because this is only a desert and a car.
I'm curious to see how the little cities and villages work out.

PS. OHMAHGAWD EITHER WAY THIS IS SO COOL!

The trailer hasn't given me any hope either.

It's more of a Mad Max / Western kind of feel. Sort of like Full Throttle with realistic graphics.

PJ is really out of character.

Darkflame my logic is not false. Making a higher polygon character is easier then a lo-poly one, becouse those need to be planned more thoroughfully.

The art style is the same pretty much, the design of the car and it's detail, humor, even the goddamn grass sprites have the same hand on them, and I know that for sure. Besides, tell me... what is realistic about a humanoid pig? It's just a more detailed texture, more polys plus a normal map.

I too love when games are less realistic, but that doesn't mean they don't have to be detailed ffs. This thing has a feel of plausability, yet it is not realistic, wich means it's good. I like it, and I'm really picky about these things.

After seeing this awesome thing, I'm more worried about the story telling, couse it has the feel of the same type of "story telling" that Rayman3 had, wich is a really illusive thing to explain.

I think this is awesome, and I think the graphics evolved naturally. Shapes and colors are like they used to be, now we are just able to make more detailed characters. I don't mind. But the video wasn't in-game.

But now I actually need to force myself to complete the first one, in spite of the massive amount of bugs. Fuck you great game, for having so many bugs.

Pfft, you guys shall calm down. Those screenshots look fantastic. And the teaser is totally freaking amazing. I'm completely psyched.

Your arguments about how this loses it's value by being realistic would have made sense, if I believed you believed them. I think you're just being closed minded / set on an ideal.

You sounds like those old guys...
Phooey! Back in my day, we had 2D games with resolution of 320x460 and we were happy to have them! Oy, they don't make games like they used to...

*goes playing 1970 games while listening to some opera in my gramophone, and afterwards goes watching Charlie Chaplin on my precious black & white television (that thing cost me 8000 dollars, back in the day)*

P.S... Lightwing: PJ is supposed to be out of character.

Awesome. I look forward to seeing what happens from here on.

The only thing which might concern me is the storyline. It is, after all, the most important aspect of BG&E. I would say.

I don't think the look is that realistic...

And saying they "sold you off" is a bit too much, if you ask me.
