Yeah, Poland is a lot better now probably than they were when we beat them 3-0 at home in june. At least thats what the reports from Riga says.

Chorzow, where the game will be on wednesday is a nice place to play at. It was in Chorzow that Sweden won 1-0 1989 and qualified for the World Cup and it was in Chorzow won 1-0 1999 (Ljungberg) and headed on to Euro 2000.

--------------------------------------

Results from competition:
Pandemona: 6 rights
Me: 7 rights (made huge mistake in last game, I have no idea why I picked Ireland (I betted on Draw))
Morshem: 7 rights
Bushmeister: 7 rights
GAZogem: 8 rights!
Gergely: 8 rights!

GAZogem wins again, along with Gergely!
REVENGE ON WEDNESDAY OMG!

---------------------------------------------

WEDNESDAY'S GAMES THAT WE COMPETE IN: (5 guards)
Slovenia-France

Czech Republic-Netherlands

Poland-Sweden

Latvia-Hungary

Germany-Scotland

Spain-Ukraine

Slovakia-Macedonia

Belgium-Croatia

Wales-Finland

Serbia/Montenegro-Italy

Russia-Switzerland

-----------------------------------

Personally I think that those games look more interesting than those of saturday overall. Deciding games in several of the groups with Czech Republic-Holland as the absolute highlight. Denmark-Romania, Poland-Sweden and Russia-Switzerland are also very important and interesting games where loss might mean that you miss the group victory. Belgium-Croatia also, and Germany has to, after massive critisism against the players, beat Scotland at home.

Here are the group standings (pasted from uefa dot com nicely formatted by me ), group winners reach the Euro 2004 while the runnersup play each other for 5 spots.
(Team, Number of played games (every team will play totally 8 games), Total number of points)

Group 2
Denmark 6 13

Bosnia-Herzegovina 6 9

Austria 7 9
Belarus 7 3
Moldova 6 3

Group 4
Sweden 6 14

I see many put their money on Hungary, but unfortunatelly I had to admit, that the chances are decreasing with every second we play. I'm very sad, but not upset, although the refery is clearly not with us, we suck tonight. I haven't seen us play this bad for a long time now, even in Poland we played better, but that sucked too.

The other one is the Czechs are winning so far, good job. Good for them, bad for me.

You're only saying that cuz you didn't see Latvia-Hungary, that wasn't even football out there. I hope Gustav you'll fix this for us, thanx in advance for that, but it's our guys I'm affraid to put my faith in. Well, let's be positive and hope we'll be second and then we could play a qualifying round with Norway, Turkey, Germany, Ireland and so on... That's gonna be funny.

it was disappointing that scotland lost to germany, they dived most of the time and got one of the players sent off because of that. But funny incidents took place on and off the pitch

must see this!:

Reaction from the Scots to the Defeat (watch with volume)

The only good thing in this lost match is that it didn't matter after all. Otherwise it is just plain sad.

OK, this thread died pretty much towards the end of the qualification, I dont know if all guys here are boring and doesnt like sports or if they just forgot.

At least, here is a summary of the tipping in the thread:
First, the top 3 in each group (which was tipped in august 2002):
1:
1, France
2. Slovenia
3. Israel

2:
1. Denmark
2. Norway
3. Romania

3:
1. Czech Rep.
2. Netherlands
3. Austria

4:
1. Sweden
2. Latvia
3. Poland

5:
1. Germany
2. Scotland
3. Iceland

6:
1. Spain
2. Greece
3. Ukraine

7:
1. England
2. Turkey
3. Slovakia

8:
1. Bulgaria
2. Croatia
3. Belgium

9:
1. Italy
2. Wales
3. Serbia-Montenegro

10:
1. Switzerland
2. Russia
3. Ireland

Competition:
Snapman: 14 rights
Me: 7
Jesse: 10
Homer: 11

That was probably my worst in the MBN ever.

Lets continue, first group round:
Homer: 6
Me: 6

Draw.

June competition:
Me: 6 rights
Homer: 7 rights
Gergely: 6 rights
Gazogem: 8 rights!
Morshem: 4 rights

Victory for gazogem.

September:
Pandemona: 6 rights
Me: 7 rights (made huge mistake in last game, I have no idea why I picked Ireland (I betted on Draw))
Morshem: 7 rights
Bushmeister: 7 rights
GAZogem: 8 rights!
Gergely: 8 rights!

Gazogem and Gergely drawed the victory.

September again:
Competition:
Gergely: 7 rights
Me: 9 rights
Bushmeister: 7 rights
Pandemona: 4 rights
Snapman: 6 rights

I owned.

Last competition was very tight:
Bushmeister: 10 rights
Me: 10
Pandemona: 9

Victories:
Me: I had three but one of them was a draw with the other person so it doesnt really count, lets say 2
Gazogem: 2
Bushmeist, Snapman, Homer (draw with the other person) and Gergely: 1

The following countries qualified, any comments?
Host
Portugal
Group Winners
Bulgaria
Czech Republic
Denmark
England
France
Germany
Greece
Italy
Sweden
Switzerland
Play-Offs
Croatia
Latvia
Netherlands
Russia
Spain

The big surprise was of course Latvia, who beat World Cup bronzemedalists Turkey 3-2 (1-0 home, 2-2 away). Most of the bigger teams are qualified, if not all, except Turkey. Of the other unqualified countries, Serbia-Montenegro are perhaps the biggest country to stand outside.

And tomorrow we have the draw! Very exciting! The 16 teams will be put in four groups in Porto and here is the seeding: (one team from each seeding group will be in every group) The seeding is based on results from the last qualifying competitions.

Seedgroup 1: Portugal (host), France, Czech Republic and Sweden.
Seedgroup 2: Spain, England, Italy and Germany.
Seedgroup 3: Denmark, Holland, Russia and Croatia.
Seedgroup 4: Bulgaria, Switzerland, Latvia and Greece.

Would be cool if Sweden came into a group with England, Denmark and Switzerland heho. Less cool with Holland, Spain and Greece..

Yes that group would be good for England, if you took away Sweden and put in Latvia. Here's hoping that England get a nice easy group and can pass through without too many mishaps.

Unfortunatelly, Latvia was a surprise. Hence EURO 2004 is nothing but a great, stressless quality entertainment for Hungary as it was for the last 50 or so years.

Congratulations for all the qualifiers.

I'm supporting Latvia!

Yes, the team you didnt beat since 1968 I dont know if there is such a thing as a "dream group". I dont think it matters at all actually. Just the extreme cases. Like getting Holland and Spain. THAT would be a group of death, compared to that silly one we had in teh world cup
