Perspective map viewer

Hello folks !

Here is the thread about the perpective map viewer, a tool to view 2D maps from both LBA1/LBA2 in 3D

This project has been inspired by the RobG LBA advanced engine, you can find his thread here.
http://forum.magicball.net/showthread.php?t=14524

I'm uploading project files here :
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=4...db6fb9a8902bda

and Chaosfish morror it here : (no ads !)
http://fishos.cc/stuff/mbn/david38/

You will also find various patch on second link, you first have to download the whole project before launching a patch. The patch must be launched from project root folder.

Actual developping version is V2 with pach V4

And last, I'm happy to let you know that I finally compiled the viewer under Linux - Ubuntu/Intrepid distribution.
You'll find a screenshot here + the linux patch V4. Like for windows, copy the patch in root folder.
You'll need your graphic card driver correctly installed + the mesa library, which is a distribution of opengl for linux.

You may also need FLTK package, not sure about it. Anyway all this package can be found in Linux repository. Look here
packages.ubuntu.com
And also here
archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool
I'll appreciate that you tell me if it worked for you, what is you graphic card, and which package you had to download.

well the step from XP to Linux was as big than the step from france to spain ...
so you didn't have any problem to launch the app. with linux ??
Sounds great !
Now I'm starting to write the exporter

Yep, under Linux, no problems.

You could however provide a how-to on running it... Or a "combined" Linux version link.

Don't understand that
Next patches will include both win32 and linux executable
by now I only had to write ./Perspective\ Map\ Viewer in a console to run the app with linux .
So you didn't have to download any packages to get it working with linux ?

I meant it's confusing that you need to first dl all the stuff and then put the executable in there. And yeah, no additional packages. Just put the file into the stuffs and run it.

Give me more details
For example what OS are you using ? Which graphic card are you using ?
Yes this app uses opengl. And if you don't have it the app would'nt even start. Can you run other opengl programs without problems ?
Above all, did you set your graphic card drivers correctly ?
And finally, can you post a screenshot ?

Wow, I'm feeling so sad to see that pile of white blocks ...
It's V1 of the viewer no ? The one with a command line user interface ?
Well I'm not an opengl guru (not yet ) but I think that this version 1.1.1 of opengl is older than Mathusalem !
you could try to replace your windows/system32/opengl32.dll by this one :
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dl...shtml?opengl32
but make a safe copy of the original first !! I don't want to be responsible of crashing your computer.
Next thing I suggest is to download from my web site the GLView311.exe
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=4...db6fb9a8902bda
and check that your graphic card handle 2048x2048 textures. I'm pretty sure it's the problem, above all with that version of opengl...

Anyone knows about that opengl upgrade ?

Yes thats v1 the others dont run at all, i replaced my dll with that one but made not change (using the opengl viewer) still 1.1

And yes your right "Max texture size: 1024 x 1024"
I cant see why it doesnt work my graphics card is pretty new and quite expensive.

check out this screenshot I made from glview, I found an interesting opengl driver link inside the application. I painted it in red

Also if you clik on summary you get your actual version of opengl !

For me that application is a "must have".

According the database, you are running the latest display drivers for your video card.

No hardware support
Your current video configuration DOES NOT support hardware accelerated OpenGL.

No compiled vertex array support
This may cause performance loss in some applications.

No multitexturing support
This may cause performance loss in some applications.

No secondary color support
Some applications may not render polygon highlights correctly.

This may break compatibility for applications using per pixel shading.

No Frame buffer object support
This may break compatibility for applications using render to texture functions.

Few texture units found

Silly me! Totally forgot it's in there.
Apparently my OpenGL version is 2.1.2

Can't see the max supported texture size though.

still developping that exporter, that's harder than what I thought.
If you use Blender, I'd be very happy if you prepare me a blender model of Twinsen with basic animation. In the little script adventure demo, you'll find the animated blender characters I already made.
Also I'll add perspective view in the demo
