World: Colozen

I started off trying to make a map for LBAnet. Link
Then I found I could make my own world so I started making several grids that could hopeful one day become a map. Link

Now, with the help of Rincevent and Mazaka151 I have created an entirely new world for LBA.Net called Colozen.

Colozen isn't in the same solar system as Twinsun or Zeelich and its occupants although may look similar will not be.
On Colozen there are three factions: Colobee, Techlones and Magilonies.

You start off in the world as a clone created by some madscientist and being a clone your not seen in a bright light, however your a different clone to the other clones been created in the past and through quests and good deeds you can unlock new secrets on this new world.

Update: I've added a project on Google Code for Colozen world building. I figured it would be better to organise my work online rather than store all my notes in a little text document somewhere on the desktop.

its my OpenGL render problem , Twinsen does have medallion but it cant draw it

I know, but I meant we have a fully animated Twinsen model which isn't used yet in LBANet. People always complain about the lack of playable models, so we could have one more with nearly no efforts.

Is Twinsen textured? We could at the very least add different tops for Twinsen to wear, or more colour varieties.

No, Twinsen isn't textured, it's just colored polygons.

Actually this was already featured some time ago. I don't know why Rincevent put it away. Maybe he just forgot it, but it was definitely there.

You really don't want to have the rest of the possible Colors that are available in LBA1 just have a look at LBA1-Model-Viewer to know what I mean.

Twinsen in LBA1 has 38 Animations , in LBA2 he has 68, arent all the older ones included in LBA2 twinsen? there would be twinsen with the black sweater and wizard robes

I might, I've found that "Google Code" site is actually more difficult to use without the software. I was going to switch to "Google Sites" instead so I can make a page for each zone and you should be able to comment without having to login.

Thanks, I was looking for ages for what keyword to put into Google.
I'm also inspired by the pokemon games (the gym puzzles) so I think I'll check those out and some of those in too.

I've already figured out how I can make an emergency exit should the player want to quit. Teleport to a platform which links to an Exit-Only. It would link you to the outside entrance.. but the entrance would still link to the inside entrance.

Like I said in my earlier post. I found Google Code to akward to update so I've switched to Google Sites which is better for presentation and open discussion with the use of gadgets.

I've made an update and I've added Colozen to my Google Sites page.

I noticed the extra roofs when I first saw that map in LBAnet. I don't know why that is there since it wasn't there in the editor I don't think. You can check the grid files yourself as its in the LBAnet/data/maps/colozen folder.

My next big update will include: SS.Astaroth, Mystic Island and fixes for the text signs.
The SS.Astaroth will be linked by Tech-Island_Docks and Mystic-Island will be linked by the sea-paths which are currently added at the moment but no currently there is no access to them. I may turn the port by Tinker-Town into a temp-entrance until items/npcs are established in the world.

You can discuss ahead of time about these locations which will be added:

Artificial Island , Bluerock Island , Colobee City , Colony Island , Techlone Station , Tidal Falls , Zen Island .

These roof-overlaps come from the fact, that I fixed a bunch of the old Grid-graphics because they made to holes in the actual LBANet.
You'll have to use a different block to make it work normally the ones, that are also on the roof-edges in LBAexpanded, will work.

Do you know which brick that is? It seems a bit confusing for me as in LBArchitect it appears to be fine but ingame that isn't the case.

I've uploaded a rough map of Colozen based on the new islands I've added.
Its really simple but it gives you an idea of the scale of things and where the islands are located in relation to one another.

There is also a LBAnet video showing Colozen so far on Tech Island.
Mazaka wanted me to make one and I did but I've had trouble with MovieMaker to stop it from blurring.

Edit: Video uploaded; I've put annotations to say where you hear GTalk blips incase anybody uses it. - That conversation was between me and Rinc discussing problems with converting maps.

why is it 1080p if its 4:3? did u record 1440x1080?

I used Fraps which was set to fullscreen - I used it on the window mode of LBAnet so its probably taken the settings from there.
The quality doesn't matter once its gets that high anyway, depends if you want to see the smallest details or want the video to stream faster.

REVIVE! - (I'm aware of the 126 day old thread warning, but it seems pointless starting the same thread up again)

Since last update:
  • Rincevent updated the game engine to support 3D outside maps
    - The outdoor areas for Colozen will be revamped to have a LBA2 style
  • Mazaka151 had created custom bricks for maps
    - I won't have to improvise as much with new tiles, so content will look new.
  • Mystic Island indoor zones created, unpublished
    - Imagine the inside of the dome of the slate.
  • SS_Astaroth zone created (a large ship walkable ferry), unpublished
    - created a while back (inspired by SSanne from Pokemon), has to go through testing.
  • Sketches of the islands being made
    - I'll upload pictures later when I finish them off.

Been busy with work lately so my project went on hold for a while.
I've started making sketches of the islands to get an idea of what things would look like before trying to create them.

I have also thought about storyline/history ideas for Colozen.

If you look at the Colozen World Map you can see the location of the Islands.
I plan to group 2 sets of islands: Tech Island & Mystic Island, Tidal Falls (will be a zone of its own, not just decoration) & Bluerock Island.

Colobee City will be a floating magic rock with the main mass being honeycomb like with wooden supports holding stuff together. Access around the city will be through tunnels and there will be a few layers/platforms.

Artificial Island will have a Port, Mtech, Trade District, Housing area, Manor.

Tidal Falls will have waterfalls around the sides and at the bottom of there will be a filled canyon of water. In the cliffs there will be a few caves by the Colobees and wrecks from Shuttles and ships that failed trying to get to Bluerock Island.

Bluerock Island isn't anything too special; trees take up most of the island and in the centre of the island there is a small mountain range with a cave at the top.

Zen Island belonging to the Magilonies has a portal, 4 shrines belonging to each type of Magilonie and a temple in the centre of the island which is a hole. Magic resonates through the island from each shrine to the temple in a strange manner.

Colony Island (mapping now) - has the Colony ship inside the main city and is currently being used to power the space-elevator. Most of the Techlones are on the south part of the island and the north part of the island is open to wildlife.

Techlone-Station (unmapped) - will have a control room, small shuttle bay, living quarters and each corridor will have air-locks like the ones on Emerald Moon so if any part of the station decompresses then the rest of the station is fine. A section of the station is still under construction as the space-port.

Tech-Island (Live on LBAnet) - you start on this Island and its run by Dtech techlones alongside the Colobees. Not much will change except the outdoor zone will include Mystic Island.

Mystic-Island (mapped) - a few buildings outside and a cave system linking to the inside of the island. The outside will be similar to Desert Island.

I started to think about why Bluerock Island was sealed away by magic/Tidal Falls and the reason for that is because there had to be something of value on the Island. I began to think about Sendell having a connection to Colozen; perhaps not 'The Sendell' but 'a Sendell' which it's power resonates from the Island.

It could be a legend/myth which you as a player can later find out if its true or not. Access to the Island won't easily be possible and you will have to travel back and forth across the world to find the answer on how to get there.



- Critiques / feedback would be appreciated. Your feedback will help make the world more interesting to play on (have I fallen into any loopholes? or any questions to ask about Colozen?).

Sorry for the x3 post - it'd be a double post if it wasn't for the revive.

Here are the sketches I mentioned earlier.
They aren't as detailed because I had to go over them in paint.net to show them.
Spoiler:






Tech&Mystic Island - not much will change from what is present.

Artificial Island - also known as AI island because there are checkpoints controlled by AI which is monitored by Mtech.

Bluerock Island - A fairly untouched island which serves as a battle/quest area.

Colobee City - Doesn't look clear in the sketch but its a honeycomb of rock with several layers. You walk inside buildings to switch floors and it has quite a few piers for flyers or jumpers.

Colony Island - Split into 2 sections; higher and lower. Access outside the city will be given later through quests and I've given a possible spoiler mentioning "Mia's house" who will be an important character.

TechloneStation - It will look like the inside of Emerald Moon station mostly.

Tidal Falls - An open outside area with many wrecks. A battle/quest area (also makes a good PvP area). Your always on a cliff edge as there is an endless drop near the magic barrier.

Zen Island - Fairly open island with lots of trees. Will serve as a quest hub and a potential pvp zone.
