Could anyone translate this at all? It's obviously pretty long so even a summary would be great.

There's definitly something unorthodox about Fred's hair... That's... disturbing.
He is basically saying he has been seeing Didier Chanfray regularly recently, about the re-release of LBA, it's a concrete project, and it seems they are working on it already. He doesn't want to say anything about LBA3 yet. He says he and Didier would love to make it, and they keep talking about it, but there are too many things that need to be sorted out before they can do it. What's for sure is they are talking about LBA. Not sure yet what will the new release be on, probably consoles and tablets. The interviewer suggests the playstation store, as the first game was released on PS1. But Fred says the graphic assets of the PS1 version were to low res to be used for a re-release, if there's to be a playstation store release, it will probably use the PC assets instead. He says, anyway, the graphics assets are waiting there to be improved (a little) to better fit today's player expectations. Then they talk about the recent come back on tablets of some old French video game classics. The interviewer mentions the come back of Eric Chahi and Paul Cuisset with downloadable games, and asks him if he is to come back too in 2011 with a downloadable game. Fred says "YES !", he says they all started at a time when it was possible to make games alone, in a very "handcrafted" way. At that time everything was simple, no complications due to editors, etc. And now, thanks to the different "stores", "markets" and other downloading platforms, it's possible to re-release those games, and make new games with a small team, or alone. He says he basically loves to make games, whether they are big or small doesn't matter, as long as he finds and like a certain gameplay concept, then he just wants to be able to share it easily. So he decided to just come-back and release a lot of small games, and see if people like them. Then he talks about his first game of the sort, BoXoN, well, I'm not gonna present it again here, as you all know it already, and if you don't, shame on you ! The interviewer says he is glad to interview Fred, especially as his first video game journalistic work was precisely a LBA making-of ! Then they talk about the project he presented last year in the E3, battle tag. They say the game was released to a small number of players in the US, and it's apparently very successful among them. They seem to really enjoy it as Fred meant it to be: a kind of FPS in real life. It's really a FPS gameplay, but played with physical toys. It brings the rules, the structure of a video game to the real world. Fred says he wants to explore this concept further and make new toys which extract the video game experience, and bring it to the physical world. He says he finds the concept very inspiring and exciting. That's it basically. That was a quick summary, I might have omitted some details, or changed the way things were said, but I don't have time to make a proper translation. |

Thanks! That's probably the best translation there could have been made to the "blabla blabla" that I don't understand
![]() ![]() This is very interesting! Awaiting what comes out. I do hope it's something on the pc, as I won't be able to see it in PS release.

You're great Link!
Well, I was never into a "game re-releases" but idea of "different LBA" sounds tempting ![]() I've just got one concern - yes, thinking about playing LBA on a good pad on e.g. PS3 is great, but I would shoot that most of current LBA lovers would like to see that game on both PC's and consoles. Let's hope if it ever comes out it won't be "console only", as there are great simple games like "scott pilgrim vs. the world" which could easily run on PC but limiting it only to xbox and ps3 ruined the spreading of whole game IMO ![]() Anyway... fingers crossed ![]() |

WOAH, an brand new interview with Fred from 30th september!!! How recent can you get. And yeah, hm, nice haircut, haha.
![]() Good summary Link, I couldn't understand a word from it (like the others here). It's sad Battle Tag isn't available for everyone yet, it seems pretty cool, I'd love to play it. Oh and I agree with all of his views on games, he's really in the best path one could be in this dog-eat-dog commercial gaming world. ![]()

I also love the concept of indy games : cheap, very good, graphically simple but still as beautiful (or more) than "big" games. Independant games will one day save PC gaming, I totally agree with Darkflame !
